Porsche Club Malaysia hosted Gala Dinner at Mandarin Oriental

In conjunction with the Porsche Club worldwide 70th anniversary celebrations, Porsche Club Malaysia – the only official licensed Porsche Club by Porsche AG in Malaysia – held a prestigious gala dinner at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.

Globally, there are over 235,000 Club members in 86 countries, with Malaysia being the 170th licensed Club in the world in 1998. For the founding members, Porsche Club was their passion – a mix of excitement, friendship and vision. To this day, Porsche Clubs are a second home for friends of Porsche with a shared passion for its long history, shared experiences and visions of the mobility of tomorrow. As part of the global campaign, “Enduring Passion”, Porsche Club Malaysia organises a series of events to commemorate this milestone.

Aptly themed 50s Hollywood glamour, the 70 years gala dinner payed homage to the first Porsche Club formed in Germany, 1952. The glamourous dinner was attended by over 450 guests such as Pahang princess Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Seri Lela Manja Tengku Dato' Sri Hajjah Nong Fatimah Binti Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Sime Darby Auto Performance (Porsche Malaysia) CEO Christopher Hunter, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia CEO and Managing Director, Abrar Anwar, distinguished Porsche Club members from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong, and Porsche Club Malaysia partners.

“This was the largest Porsche Club Malaysia gathering since the pandemic and such an honour to be hosting the Porsche Club 70 years celebration, the largest Porsche celebration in Asia Pacific, sharing our enduring passion for Porsche”, said Dato Derrick Lim, President of Porsche Club Malaysia.

The evening saw a rare and exclusive edition 700 horsepower racer Porsche 935 with only 77 units in the world and Malaysia home to 1 unit, only possibly seen on track, Porsche classics 356 and 944, Porsche Taycan and Porsche Cayenne CKD built in Kulim, Kedah Malaysia. In addition, the launch of the Electric Vehicle (EV) chapter, Porsche Club Malaysia’s commitment to extend the Porsche community to Malaysia’s leading sports car model in the EV segment – the all-electric Porsche Taycan owners, with EV-centric activities tailored in Porsche Club Malaysia.

Moreover, Porsche Club Malaysia in partnership with Sime Darby Auto Performance (Porsche Malaysia) launched the Porsche Club Malaysia Trial Membership whereby new SDAP customers (EV and non-EV) will get to be a part of the official Porsche Club community through a complimentary 3 months trial membership. Membership in Porsche Club Malaysia enables participation in over 50 activities annually ranging from weekend drives, social and gastronomic experiences, exclusive events, long distance convoy drives from hundreds to thousands of kilometers, track events, technical sessions, social and tournament sports like golf and badminton. The annual Porsche Club Malaysia Drive of the Year (DOTY) which has included the most recent 2,200 km drive covering 11 states of Peninsular Malaysia as well as being part of iconic events such as our Malaysia Book of Records Largest Gathering of Porsches, staging 320 Porsches parading at Sepang International Circuit. Porsche Club Malaysia members are also entitled to 30% discount on Porsche Lifestyle merchandise at any Porsche Centers in Malaysia. On the above note, the new Porsche Club Malaysia Membership Card were presented to members that evening. Lifetime membership awards were given to Past Porsche Club Malaysia Presidents and 10 years long serving executive committee members who have contributed their passion, time and dedication.

The gala dinner is made possible with the partnership of Malaysia’s first bank, Standard Chartered and many other supportive partners and sponsors. The night continued on with themed performances, a jewellery fashion show, lucky draw prizes totalling over RM90,000 and a real-time live voting of best dressed male and female with prizes over RM30,000. As part of Porsche Club Malaysia’s ongoing CSR efforts, this gala dinner will raise funds for Persatuan Makanan Ehsan (Free Food Society) through members and guests’ contributions.

The 70 years celebration gala dinner is only the first of many events commemorating this anniversary.
