Presented to the world for the fi rst time in the autumn of 1963, the Porsche 901 is a legend. That’s because it was the forerunner of the 911. A 911 built as a 901 has been missing from the factory collection at Porsche – until now. During fi lming for the docu-soap “Der Trödeltrupp” by broadcaster RTL2, an unrestored model was discovered in a dilapidated condition, consisting only of fragments. It soon became clear that the car identifi cation number belonged to one of the fi rst 911 cars, built in autumn 1964. The original 911 No. 57 has since been in the possession of the Porsche Museum. Over the course of three years, the neglected car was restored by experts at the museum workshop. From December 14, 2017 to April 8, 2018, the 911 will be on display for the fi rst time in the Porsche Museum as part of a special exhibition.
