The 2020 season
The global pandemic changed everything. Public life - slowed down. The staging of events of any kind - unthinkable. First, the international Porsche Swap in March had to be postponed. Initially, events in April and May were under reserve; it was hoped that the situation would have stabilised by June so that the 2020 season could pick up its thread and some of the previously planned highlights could take place. But the virus knows no certainties. The world changed at a rapid pace while everything else came to a standstill.

The Classic Round Table was postponed twice, the Porsche Parade Europe in Switzerland was rescheduled. The INT 356 meeting in Germany was cancelled and will now take place in 2023. The Porsche Parade USA of the Porsche Club of America was also cancelled.

Club Events in 2020
But whenever the possibilities existed to organise an event for the Club members, the Clubs responded with creative solutions and undaunted drive and energy.

Moreover, social solidarity in the Clubs was more important than ever in times of personal distance. Togetherness does not only result from daily meetings; in difficult times, togetherness results from networking and from the common exchange in social media. And especially in the year 2020, the Clubs helped the members not to be isolated and to go through the difficult times strengthened.

Porsche Club Mexico: At least twice a month, some of the more than two hundred members of the Club, founded in 1988, meet for a breakfast get together. Since the beginning of the Corona restrictions, the breakfast meetings have taken place online.

Porsche Club Bosnia and Herzegovina: The then latest Porsche Club Bosnia and Herzegovina has moved the exchange between members to the online sphere and increased its social media activities.

Porsche Classic Club Belgium: The planned Porsche Club event at Easter fell victim to Corona. The Belgians found a creative alternative with a photo contest at Easter. Many members explicitly thanked the Club for thinking of them even in these difficult times.

Porsche Club of South Africa: Actually, they wanted to celebrate the Club’s proud 50th anniversary in a big way as part of the Porsche Parade South Africa. In the end, only a race track day with foster children could be organised. But even they, in the opinion of the Club, needed a little light in these dark days.

Porsche Club Singapore: The Porsche Club Singapore had launched a Porsche quiz on Facebook. For example, members had to find out the name of the spaceship that the Porsche designers created with Lucasfilm (it was, of course, the “Tri-Wing S-91x Pegasus Starfighter”).

Federazione Italiana Porsche Club: The Italians were hit particularly early and particularly hard by the Corona virus. The top priority to protect themselves and others: if possible, stay at home and leave the Porsche in the garage. So they launched the photo competition #AncheLaMiaPorscheRestaACasa. The task: to put your own Porsche in the best possible light in the garage.

Porsche Club Great Britain: The Club has set up countless virtual events: for example, a “pub quiz” that has been outsourced to the Internet or online events with such creative titles as “Dream Garage”, “Cayman Clinic”, “Porsche Night not at Ace Café”, but also online photography courses in which Club members teach their colleagues how to put their own Porsche in the best possible photographic light.

Porsche Club Andino
The Porsche Club Andino is not yet two years young. The Chileans have also reacted brilliantly to the Corona freeze and started a great initiative: the Club regularly undertook virtual tours with its online followers. For example, the South Americans virtually visited the collection of a well-known Club member in Santiago.

Porsche Club of America
In “Keep PCA alive” and with the hashtag #PCATogether, the Americans presented beautiful clips from previous events. In addition, PCA President Tom Gorsuch and Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Porsche Cars North America, addressed passionate words to the Club members. Important emotions which the Porsche Club of America was able to capture impressively with this video, addressed to its members in the USA.

SIM racing of Porsche Club of America and Porsche Club Great Britain
In the pandemic year, sim racing took off in an unpredictable way, reaching a popularity that could hardly have been foreseen. At Club level, the Porsche Club of America (PCA) grew to over 400 sim racers and the Porsche Club Great Britain (PC GB) managed to welcome almost a hundred sim drivers to its “digital paddock” in less than six months.

During the summer of 2020, the PCA welcomed PC GB to the world of sim racing by hosting two friendship races on the iRacing platform, one on “Road America” and the other on the Silverstone circuit.

Porsche Club Festival Finland
By the end of June, the Club decided to proceed with plans for its annual Porsche Club Festival Finland at the end of August, despite the pandemic. Also in the context of the ambition to develop the festival into a major Northern European Porsche Festival by 2021 - when Porsche Club Finland celebrates its 50th anniversary. After all, the Club was able to hold a nice, smaller and rather more intimate event for about 300 Porsche cars and 500 participants.

Porsche Club Wuxi
The beautiful Clubhouse with the broad glass front at the entrance and the modern bar at the back, was completed shortly before the pandemic. The construction lasted for over two months. And yet: after the construction work was completed and the modernisation was done, the Clubhouse in Wuxi had to remain closed for the time being. Club life in the Chinese city of six million people was also shut down. More than half a year later, the Clubhouse was finally allowed to come to life.

40 years of Porsche Club Norge
Originally, Porsche Club Norge wanted to celebrate its 40th anniversary in grand style in Geiranger Fjord. Everything had been arranged with the Ministry of Tourism. The Club would even have had the world-famous fjord exclusively for itself and its guests. Corona threw a spanner in the plans. Unfortunately, it is not easy to organise this event again. The fjord is booked up by cruise ships at least five years in advance.

60 years of Porsche Club Nürburgring
The Club wanted to celebrate its 60th anniversary on a big scale at the Nürburgring. The Club’s motto was “Back to the roots”: Vehicles on the race track and on the course. In the end, the Club had to cancel its anniversary event. With the hope of 2021, when the Club can celebrate 60+1.

25 years Porsche Club Leipzig
The Porsche Club Leipzig had been working on and planning its anniversary for two years - and then had to cancel it. The Club already had 100 registrations. It could have welcomed guests from Germany of its befriended Clubs, from neighbouring European countries, even from the Porsche Club of America.

Porsche Club Adria
Dobro došli! Welcome to the family! Porsche Club Adria was recognised as an official Porsche Club with the number 353 in the summer of 2020. Together with the Porsche Motorsport Club Suisse, founded in 2021, this makes it one of the youngest Porsche Clubs in the world. And an example that Porsche Club life continues even in difficult times and - with the right ambitions - can even represent the start of something new.

GP Ice Race
For the second time, the GP Ice Race took place in Zell am See - the home of the Porsche family - headed by two true motorsport enthusiasts in Ferdinand Porsche and Vinzenz Greger.

Digital Live Tours on Instagram

A highly up-to-date 911 with inspirations from the 1950s and early 1960s: Porsche presents the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition as the first of a total of four collector’s items from the Heritage Design series.

The new Porsche 911 Targa: With the 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S, the third model of the new 911 generation debuts after the Coupé and Cabriolet. The new 718 GTS 4.0 models: Porsche extends its mid-engine sports cars with two distinctly athletic and exclusive six-cylinder models. New Panamera Hybrid model with best-in-class performance: The Panamera 4S E-Hybrid completes the plug-in hybrid range with a completely new drive with 560 hp. Porsche expands the Taycan model range: With the Taycan, Porsche presents the fourth version of its first all-electric sports sedan, following the Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo and Taycan 4S. Cayenne GTS models: As is typical for the GTS, the powertrain is of particular importance: instead of the 3.6-litre V6 biturbo from the predecessor model, a V8 heart now beats again under the bonnet of the Cayenne GTS.

New Panamera sets fastest time on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife
Porsche has proven the performance potential of the new Panamera even before its world premiere: Test driver Lars Kern (32) completed a full lap of 20.832 kilometres on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife in a lightly camouflaged production car in exactly 7:29.81 minutes. In the official ranking of Nürburgring GmbH, this time, certified by a notary public, is listed as a new record in the “ luxury class” category.

At the centre of the numerous programme activities was the Club’s record attempt to take 500 Porsche sports cars onto the Nürburgring circuit. In the end, 543 cars took to the track. With this, the Club now has its rightful place in the record statistics of the so called Green Hell.
