Patrick Dempsey, TAG Heuer and Porsche came together to rev up the Carrera Panamericana legend.

Yes, it’s one of the toughest endurance races in the world, but the Carrera Panamericana is also a treasure trove of stories. This year Porsche and TAG Heuer are adding to this list of legends. And they’re doing it in style. As the cars swept through the stages of the race, the fans were treated to a very special sight. Amidst the coterie of sports cars was actor, racing driver and TAG Heuer ambassador Patrick Dempsey in the unique Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special, alongside Mexican driver Victor Medina.

Shared roots

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which was raced with the number 154, isn’t just a thing of beauty; it’s part of an exhilarating collaboration between Porsche and TAG Heuer. The two icons share roots that go back a long way. Seven decades ago, two client teams, each with a Porsche 550 Coupé, took part in La Carrera Panamericana with the numbers 152 & 154,. Not long after that, in 1963, Jack Heuer released the TAG Heuer Carrera collection, a chronograph crafted for drivers, enthusiasts, and collectors. To celebrate the two milestones, and their common heritage, Porsche and TAG Heuer unveiled the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Panamericana Special at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion last month. And who better than Patrick Dempsey to steer this project? The star raced the car through the Mexican landscape wearing the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche, a timepiece that, much like the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, symbolizes the inextricable links between Porsche, TAG Heuer, and their passion for motorsport.

So, Patrick Dempsey, two exclusive cars, and the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche watch came together to further enrich the legend of the Carrera Panamericana.
