Meet the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche, an homage to the momentous celebration of the 60th anniversaries of the TAG Heuer Carrera collection as well as the Porsche 911 presented in 1963 as the 901.

It’s not often that two legends share the same anniversary. Both the Porsche 911 and the TAG Heuer Carrera collection turn 60 this year. And that’s why TAG Heuer and Porsche are commemorating their milestones in style. Designed in two exhilarating versions, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche is a tribute to Porsche’s exceptional speed achievement. An ode to time and speed, these watches bring together the iconic features that catapulted the vehicle and the collection into the higher echelons of history.

Innovation, inspired by innovation

When it was first introduced in 1963, the Porsche 901's impressive acceleration got heads turning and adrenaline pumping. This sublime vehicle shredded conventions with an astonishing 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 9.1 seconds. An eye-watering acceleration speed that redefined the benchmarks for sports cars of its time.

As a tribute to this achievement, TAG Heuer has created a whole new movement for the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche. Designed for precise measurements of short time intervals, the TH20-08 movement mirrors Porsche 901's acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds — capturing the essence of the vehicle’s remarkable achievement. Its central hand accelerates swiftly, gradually decelerating over 60 seconds, and then quickly restarting. This ensures accurate time measurements, with quarter-second definition in the first 10 seconds and half-second definition from 10 to 15 seconds, allowing for clear distinctions and enhanced precision.

Designed to delight enthusiasts

The dials on these watches are visual representations of speed and acceleration. The red lines on the flange symbolize the incredible 0-100 km/h achievement in just 9.1 seconds. The 6 o'clock subdial features a reference to the iconic dashboard of the 1970s Porsche, where the area around 50 km/h was often highlighted to indicate the recommended speed in urban areas.

The red portion of the 9 o'clock subdial is another nod to the rich sports car heritage. It is reminiscent of the highest RPM counter indications on a car dashboard. A reminder of the critical engine limit beyond which damage may occur. The watch hands too take inspiration from the shape of a car dashboard, completing the cohesive automotive design aesthetic.

The TAG Heuer touch

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche is graced with an elegant double glassbox, further elevating the Swiss watchmaker’s evolution of the much-loved Carrera. This design, a first for the TAG Heuer Carrera, offers a stunning view of the timepiece’s intricate mechanics, from both the caseback and the front glass. On the caseback, you’ll also notice a dedicated mass, custom designed to resemble Porsche's iconic three spoke steering wheel.

Metallic masterpieces

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche comes in two versions: steel and gold. Each one exudes a unique design concept. Both watches feature a calfskin leather strap. Brown for the gold edition and black for the steel edition. The straps are embossed with the original number ‘911’ on the strap, making them the ideal gifts for sports car enthusiasts and connoisseurs. The two metallic masterpieces come in specially-designed, co-branded TAG Heuer x Porsche packaging with subtle touches of steel and gold.

Yet another showstopper

Since the start of their glorious collaboration in 2021, TAG Heuer and Porsche have placed their shared history and passion for motor racing at the heart of everything they do. The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronosprint x Porsche is yet another timeless tribute to their heritage, their partnership, and a sports car whose spirit will surely live on for another 60 years.
